Whew! quite the Christmas weekend! For winners, see my last comment on the Naughty Blog Hop post :D Now, we're going to change up the pace a little and meet an author. Her name is Téa cooper. She did a wonderful interview of me earlier and is a very gracious and wonderful new peeps I'm fortunate to have met through our work as a Breathless Press author.

Now, it was her birthday yesterday. So here's the deal. IF, my wonderful blog readers give her plenty of lovin', ie birthday wishes, comments on excerpt/blurb/cover, etc, then I'll allow her to give away one of her coveted author copies of her ebook Tree Change at 10 different commenters. If we hit fifteen+ then my gift to her will be to sweeten the pot and give away a copy of one of my last two releases as a bonus. So, who wants an early boxing day gift? Or could you use a free book?

Now, draw up a chair, grab your favorite holiday drink and relax as we get to know Téa Cooper.

Quick sketch of her:

Téa Cooper is an Australian contemporary and historical romance author.

Originally from England Téa came to Australia via India and a few other places in between. She has lived in Sydney, on the NSW Central Coast and now lives in the time-warp village of Wollombi near Cessnock.

To find out more about Téa, or to check out what projects she's working on right now, you can visit her website http://www.teacooperauthor.com
A little more, if you please:

BIOGRAPHY:

Lurking in the back of Téa’s brain somewhere was the knowledge that one day she would write a novel. It probably started with a rather risqué story in the back of an exercise book at boarding school featuring the long suffering school gardener - not really the stuff romantic heroes were made of but it was before she knew any better.

Life and few heroes of her own showed her the error of her ways and with a baby under one arm, a husband and a half built house she entered a Mills and Boon competition. To her absolute earth shattering amazement she won second place – the prize was a bottle of perfume! Next time she determined she would do better.

But it was still the stuff of fantasy and her family, a herd of alpacas, a protea farm and teaching intervened until one day she decided it was time to do or die. No more procrastination. The characters and plots that had lived in her head for so long were clamoring to escape.

In August 2011 she got serious and joined Romance Writers Australia, entered the Harlequin Mills & Boon New Voices competition and to her horror discovered she hadn’t been – discovered that is. Not even a bottle of perfume this time. But in reality she had won. Procrastination was conquered and determination set in. It was time to get serious.

Tree Change is her first contemporary romance novel and is available now. Her second, a historical novel Lily’s Leap - set in Wollombi, the time-warp village she now calls home – was accepted by Lyrical Press and will be published in mid 2013. She has recently completed her second Australian historical novel Matilda’s Madness - inspired by some of the fascinating characters haunting the local museum.

Want to stalk become a new fan of hers? Then go find her ;-) *note, clicking on the name of the social platform will give you the correct internet addy*

When Téa is not haunting the Wollombi museum she can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Goodreads or you can email her at teacooperauthor@gmail.com.

Now, *rubs hands together in glee* we have the juicy details of her new release Tree Change!

SHORT BLURB:

Forced to choose between the world she wants and the man she loves Cassia opts for fame and fortune. But it’s not enough - one taste and she’s hooked again…

LONGER BLURB:

Despite her success in the Sydney art world Cassia yearns for the idyllic life she once lead with Jake in their shack over looking the Pacific Ocean. Seeking closure she falls, like a recovering addict, straight back into his arms, and out again equally quickly.  Not only has he his taken up with his brother's wife but it seems they have a child.

Truth is Jake is living a lie, sworn to secrecy and hamstrung by a promise. Cassia’s fey, artistic character and magical body possess his imagination and his heart. Can he convince her to trust him long enough to save the crumbling remains of their relationship?

 SHORT EXCERPT:

She dismissed his words with a wave of her hand, but her eyes betrayed her. He knew her too well. The burn of hurt behind their velvety depths had nothing to do with the here and now, but everything to do with the past. His fault? Lyle's fault? No one's fault? Just circumstance.

"I need answers, and I need them now. I can't go on like this. Either we are together or we are not. You have to make a choice: Madeleine or me. I can't be a convenience you can pick up and put down as the mood takes you."

"My feelings for you, Cass, are a million things but convenience isn't one of them." He shook his head in sorrowful disbelief. How could she not recognize the bond they had?

"Madeleine?" Her raised eyebrows challenged him.

"Right now I can't explain what happened with Madeleine, but her safety is paramount."

Her body shuddered as if she was trying to lift a great weight. What was he doing to her? Madeleine, Madeleine, always Madeleine. "I can't do this again, Jake. I need to go home." Jake slipped her cardigan over her frail shoulders and then stepped back to allow her to lead the way past the bar and up the narrow stairs to street level.

He unlocked the car door and held it open. Her skirt caught on the ribbons of her espadrille. As he leaned down to untangle them, she flinched. Closing her door with exaggerated care he walked around to the driver's door and let himself in. He clicked his seat belt into its clasp before he twisted the key in the ignition. The engine sprang to life, and he pulled out into the darkened street.

"You have to trust me, Cass. I know it is difficult, but you just have to trust me and wait. Everything will be sorted out soon."

Her sigh filled the car. "Jake, I can't. How can I? I've tried and look where we've ended up. Me in Sydney, and you living with your brother's girlfriend."

"Wife," he corrected, regretting the word the moment it left his lips.

Dark Dealings by Karen Victoria Smith

I have said many times in many ways, Merry Christmas... OH wait, wrong. Sorry, started singing :D For, getting new books, really is like Christmas! Not only did I win a new book from Diana Paz in her contest but I got a new one from Karen Victoria Smith.

I have had back problems for ages. It's been way better of late, which I credit my yardwork and running too. In fact, it happens so rarely anymore that I've lost my pain tolerance for it. However, this past week, I must have slept wrong or something cuz it's been giving me fits.

The only good thing about it is that I READ. I LOVE to read :) And last night, I read Dark Dealings and was delighted! I'm a sucker for anything Irish or Scottish, basically Celtic in any way. I mean, true sucker. Speak to me in Gaelic and I drool on myself.

Hang on to that hanky cuz I'm going to need it when I re-read Dark Dealings. Karen's book had intrigue and we got to go on a discovery with the main character who has tried to deny who she is since she was a teenager. A good strong character who built a good life for herself despite losing her parents at a young age. (This is not a review. I'm not a reviewer. But I did say I'd read hers and this is what I have to say about it :D This is a recommendation! OOOH or we can call her my featured writer for July :D) I hope to see more in this world she's created. There's so much more, but I'm not sure how much is spoilers, so you'll have to discover it for yourself by getting and reading her book.

There was so much in her world, I feel it'll take massive numbers of books for me to satisfy my curiousity :D Hear that Karen? You must also write more. lol It's a paranormal romance with intrigue and a lot of Celtic "feel" lore. I loved it enough I finished it in one night. I'm a fast reader, but as my journey as a writer grows, I'm also easily bored. This book did not bore me. In fact, I want more, as I've said. Good job, Karen!

In with the New

I'm not ending this year's blog with the sad story of my youngest child's burn. Suffice it to say, it may be apro pos for how the rest of the year went, but you know what??

NEXT YEAR IS GOING TO ROCK!

I have my executed contract for Ulfric's Mate, already rolling on the promotion thing. Have finished over half the numbers on my "preedit" list from my editor. Will be going to Seatlle with son to burn unit, and I'm going to take advantage of my MILs navagation to go to a bookstore and get my Chicago Manual of Style so I can do the all important part~it's number one on the list LOL

I'm currently reading it out loud as instructed in my email from my awesome editor. It's SLOW GOING. Not exactly reading material for my kids lol Which reminds me, this is NOT for kids :D Someone asked me if it was good for their 13 yo. My answer was (and is) a definitive no. It's adult only. I'll be doing a huge post, probably with lots of CAPS like next week or the week after. In the mean time, here's some facts:

I'm being published (YAY!) by Breathless Press. It's a paranormal romance over 55k and rising as I'm finding stuff while reading it out loud LOL, it's my first time working with a professional editor, I'm nervous AND EXCITED, and it's due out this summer. More on that later :)

Thanks to all my writer friends, edittorent blog and its erstwhile editors, and my MIL and very specific friends who encouraged me. I did this one with very little outside opinion, only my CP got to weigh in. I did this rewrite with all the knowledge I'd learned and tried to stay true to my voice. I'm so very glad it worked. LOL

Have a good, safe, holiday, whether you celebrate or not. This year is going to be a good one. I feel it.

November Featured Writers and a special Promo

Tomorrow is a special day. First of all, it's my youngest son's birthday!! *pauses while you all sing him Happy Birthday, PS his name is Isaac* He turns three. Something that hit me today (it may have hit me last year but if so, I've forgotten) is that I did my first Nano on my son's first birthday. So as along as I do this every year, then the number of years will be the same as the year my son turns. My first year, he was one, my second year, he turned two. See where I'm going with this? lol

As I'm busier than a one legged man in a three legged race, I didn't push for new authors this month, so only found one new one at this late date. Her name is Carolyn Arnold, another author I follow on twitter. She has been promoting her upcoming release by tweeting teasers out of the new release. I asked her to tell me something quirky about herself, and she said that sometimes, she'll end up flicking a light switch repeatedly. The light goes off, but is it really out???

She is due to release a new this month, and a sequel to her first in December. So I think it's a great time to showcase her first book. Also, I'm planning on helping her with her release with a blogspot. So, if you're looking for a good book in her genre that you can soon follow up with the sequel, Carolyn's mysteries maybe just the thing!

Carolyn Arnold is the author of several novels in the mystery, thriller and suspense genres.  TIES THAT BIND, the first in a police procedural mystery series surrounding Detective Madison Knight, was her debut novel and published May 2011.

Carolyn was born in 1976 in the rural town of Picton, Ontario.  While her passion for writing dates back to her teen years, it wasn’t until 2008 that she completed her first novel.  She lives with her husband and her two beagles in Southwestern Ontario.

For more information on her books and upcoming releases, please visit her official website http://carolynarnold.net/
And if you'd like to follow the author's blog and see what she's up to, you can go here: http://sassy3421.blogspot.com/

Next up, another author from twitter, Naty Matos. She's been unfailingly kind and has shown great, ture interest in others :) a good way to catch my eye! She was ever so kind to fill in a last minute hole left from my busy schedule and lack of true planning :) She tends to listen to 80's in both English and Spanish while writing. I give you our latest featured writer:

Naty Matos was born in the city of New York, from Puerto Rican descendant parents. She grew up in the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico and now lives in the city of Atlanta.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Psychology with a Minor in Mass Media Communications and a Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Naty writes Christian fiction and non-fiction.
She maintains a blog on Christian Living Topics at www.therisingmuse.com
The devotionals inside Growth Lessons are based on the life experiences of the author, questions from fellow Christians and the Word of God. They will motivate you in times of trouble and it may answer some of your questions about how to live your every day life in Christ.
It's a great way for new Christians to figure out the Christian Lifestyle, but also a great tool for seasoned believers to afirm their faith. It will serve as a reminder of the little things we sometimes miss in our journey with the Lord.
To find her book you can go to
And my own book, which will have it's own official Launch Party in about a month or so, is available. My first print review is being done. In the meantime, you can buy it ;) I already have a special promotion for those who buy the print version from Lulu.
HOWEVER, since the first of November is my son's birthday, I'm giving away gifts! That's right, for all of you who have read to the bottom of my featured writers post today, I'm giving you the code to recieve a Smashwords copy of Cerisa's Quest FOR FREE!!!!
Go here, add it to your shopping cart then put in the code, WD94D! This is a limited number of copies offer. IN other words, first come first served, then I'm turning off the coupon :D So GO NOW if you want a free copy of an Epic Fantasy.

October Featured Writers

This month's Featured Writer's are a lot of fun! I met them through pubwrite hashtag on twitter. And it's been one party after another. When I could attend!

First up is AJ Aalto, twitter @AJAalto who has discerning tastes in literature (liked my zombie erotica comedy :D) and is a hoot to follow even if you're not a part of the conversation! LOL helps to follow lots of our friendly peeps on pubwrite. The things you overhear O.O!

Something about our dear writer of gore you might find surprising, and I find endearing is that she is one of those candle fiends. She says she rarely goes a night go by where she hasn't lit a dozen or so. Everything looks better by candlelight and that they help her relax.

BIO

"AJ Aalto is an unrepentant liar and a writer of blathering nonsense offset by factual gore. When not working on her horror novels, you can find her singing old Monty Python songs in the shower, eavesdropping on perfect strangers, stalking her eye doctor, or failing at one of her many fruitless hobbies. Generally a fan of anyone with a passion for the ridiculous, she has a particular weak spot for smug, pseudointellectual assholes and narcissistic jerks; readers will find her work littered with dark, imperfect creatures and flawed monsters. AJ cannot say no to a Snickers bar, and has been known to swallow her gum."

Something about me that's different:

My first book (and only, so far):

TOUCHED (Book 1 of the Marnie Baranuik Files)

"The media has nicknames for Marnie Baranuik, though she’d rather they didn’t; twice-Touched by the Blue Sense, a rare dual-talented psychic with a doctorate in preternatural biology and a working knowledge of the dark arts, she was considered without peer in the psychic community.

Her first big FBI case ended with a bullet in one shoulder and a chip on the other, a queasy heart and a serial killer in the wind, leaving her a public flop and a private wreck. When the FBI’s preternatural crimes unit tracks her down at her remote mountain lodge in Ten Springs, Colorado for her insight on a local case, she isn’t particularly eager to stick her neck out again, but her quiet retirement is promptly besieged by a stab-happy starlet, a rampaging ghoul, and a vampire hunting jackass in tight Wranglers. Marnie figures the only real mystery is which one will kill her first.

Too mean to die young, backed up by friends in cold places, and running with a mouth as demure as a cannon’s blast, Marnie Baranuik is about to discover that there’s no such thing as quitting time when you’re Touched."

Her current work in progress is DEATH REJOICES (Book 2 of the Marnie Baranuik Files)

Here's the shortened link to the ebook on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Touched-Marnie-Baranuik-Files-ebook/dp/B005NXLJK4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1316526168&sr=1-1

Next up is eatthepen on twitter and also a lot of fun and a bit tongue in cheek. (There are reasons I don't dare say that in connection with AJ Aalto :D! LOL she'd get me good!) His wit and dare I say charm? are just small reasons to want to follow his twitter account. And no, in case you're wondering, his twits are not all goodness and light, but they are a lot of fun!

And how many of you are aware of his secret? After reading Dan Simmons' 'Hyperion' sequence, he became obsessed with the poetry of Keats, and can still quote large chunks of the major odes! One of his ambitions is to recite Keats for an appreciative audience someday. Well Richard, I hope you get your chance! Without further introduction, I give you his "official" bio.

Bio: R.J. Davnall has been telling stories all his life, and thus probably shouldn't be trusted to write his own bio. 'Heaven Can Wait' was written when he should have been reading for his PhD in philosophy at the University of Liverpool. He lives on *the* Penny Lane, in an attempt to channel any of the inspirational genius that might still be lingering there. When not writing or messing around on Twitter, he can usually be found playing piano or obsessing dangerously about videogames.

'Heaven Can Wait' (YA Fantasy). Blurb:

When the Non-Agency tells Tom he's dead, he doesn't see much reason to believe them. But he is, and it's their job to convince him. When he falls for Mary, the still-living daughter of his murderer, Tom knows the Non-Agency will try to keep him from her. They'll stop at nothing to send him towards the light, and he's about to learn there are worse things than dying...

July's Featured Writers

At long last, the much anticipated July's featured writers! I know, a little late. I was totally disorganized this month. Then, doing THE DAY JOB series really took it out of me emotionally. But, I believe it was necessary.
Now, an introduction to the first one.
Wren Emerson and I have had a few chats via #pubwrite hashtag on twitter ;) She's fun and engaging and you'll really like her! Her blog is enticing and an honest look at what to expect as a self-published author.
Her official bio:
Wren Emerson was born on the mean streets of small town Kansas 30*mumble* years ago. She first put pen to paper at the tender age of 12 and wrote an epicly awful story. She then became publisher and editor in chief of a family newspaper which included articles written by indentured servants/siblings. It got rave reviews from all 8 members of her family.

Now in adulthood, Wren still enjoys bossing people around so she became overlord to a small army of minions; her true love, kids, a cat, and a dog. When she's not plotting to form a dictatorship she writes. When she's not writing, she plays video games, reads books, practices her iphoneography skills, and spends way too much time hanging out in #pubwrite on Twitter.

BLURB-
All she ever wanted was a chance to settle down in one place.
Thistle Nettlebottom knows her life isn't exactly normal. She travels the country with her secretive mother and bestselling author grandmother in a pink RV going from book signings to crazy research trips. She's never been to public school or had a boyfriend, but she can pick a lock and hotwire a car. One day the phone rings and they set a course to a tiny town that's not on any maps. Suddenly, Thistle finds her whole life changing.
She's finally found the home she's been searching for.
Thistle soon realizes that Desire isn't like other towns and she's not like other girls. The family she trusted has lied to her about everything her entire life and the things she doesn't know about herself could cost her everything. Her legacy as one of the most powerful witches the town has ever seen has made her enemies that have been waiting patiently for a chance to destroy her. Thistle needs to learn to use her powers to protect herself before they succeed.
Be careful what you wish for.
Thistle has a power unique even among the magic wielding witches of Desire. She can wish things into existence. At first she enjoys the freedom of having everything her heart desires, but she soon realizes that her power comes at a terrible price. She's losing her grip on her sanity at a time when she can't afford any weakness. Her enemies are closing in quickly, but she might not have the strength to save herself.
TWITTER - @wrenem
Next up, we have Faith Mortimer who found me through another of our featured writers. She lives in an old stone-house in the foothills of the Troodos Mountains on Cyprus. A beautiful Mediterranean island and know as Aphrodite’s own.
Official bio;
Faith Mortimer was born in Manchester and was educated in Singapore, Malaya and Hampshire, England. She qualified as a Registered nurse and after some years changed careers to oversee a number of travel and sport related companies.
She's happily married to Chris and together they have four children. Once the children began to attend University she decided to join them in reading for a Science degree. She obtained her Honours Science degree with The Open University in 2005 and the dedication and stamina needed to sit for a degree gave her the confidence to finish writing her first novel. She achieved this and January 2009 saw the publication of The Crossing. This novel is based on a true incident and she thoroughly enjoyed the six months or so research that went into the book and the later 18 months writing and editing.
The Crossing is available in paperback and Kindle format on Amazon.
In 2010 she finished writing my second novel; a murder mystery set in the Troodos mountains of Cyprus where she spends the majority of her time.
This 93,000 word novel was posted on the Harper Collins/Authonomy site and out of over 8000 books was chosen in November 2010 to be the Number 1 book! You can read the review here.
Harper Collins Review for The Assassin's Village
'The Assassin's Village' is a traditional murder mystery, set in Cyprus. It centres on the brutal murder of Mr Leslie, an expatriate whose Lothario ways, military past and cavalier demeanour have earned him no shortage of enemies among the villagers. It is a novel written very much in the style of Agatha Christie: a classic who-done-it, in a small, gossiping, rural village. The prose is brought up-to-date with the fairly explicit themes of sexual liberation and exploitation.
As a thrilling read, 'The Assassin's Village' certainly fits the bill. I flew through the first 19 chapters. The prose is easy to follow, and dramatic in duly regular intervals.
I was particularly engaged by the different perceptions of Mr Leslie. We are already interested in the character, knowing from the prologue that he is to be our victim, and the author cleverly throws our judgment of him with every new perspective. Particularly endearing is the relationship between Antigone and Mr Leslie. Indeed, the sequence of chapter seven, where Antigone watches her brother hunting, is by far the strongest in the novel so far. It illustrates all of the strengths of the writing, the prose is obviously impeccably researched, and brings in a political element that raises the caliber of the story; the setting is evocative; and the characterisation is strong and feels fresh...
...I should say that, I really like the way you subverted normal linear chronology to lay out the events. It is, clear that you are capable of presenting the clues very well, and I particularly liked the way you used Diana's sketching to map out the facts and unlock the possibilities.
From here I would consider the relevance of everything in the plot. There are many motifs centred on the play Macbeth - the suggestions of occult activities, the play being put on by the villagers, the quotes prefacing each chapter, the relationship between Antigone and Mr Leslie, and Mr Leslie's endearing side in general, the political history, and the parallels of Diana's writing to the unfolding of the broader plot are all strong - these are all interesting themes...
... overall, there is a lot to commend in this manuscript.
With such commendation, I can imagine that these books will be well worth your time J
 Books: The Crossing.
A successful businessman, Richard William Barker has accomplished much in life. Together with his wife, Connie, he was about to embark on a long dreamed-of ocean sailing adventure. Little did he know that his dream was to become his nightmare. In The Crossing, the reader is taken on this action-packed, fateful voyage and then through a twist of fate transported back to the Second World War, where Richard's late father, Billy Barker, a naval rating assigned as crew on a Motor Torpedo Boat, is captured by the enemy during a daring action off the French coast. His story of survival and friendship against all odds contrasts with his own burgeoning love for a pretty English girl, and leads Richard to begin his own recovery and understand that life must go on. Based on a true incident, this powerful emotive tale of passion and love across two generations in the parallel settings of modern day action and the horrors of war makes an utterly compelling read with a refreshing and very different approach to subjects which are normally the preserve of male authors.

The Assassins’ Village ( A Diana Rivers Mystery):
Bound and gagged, the shocked and terrified victim recognises his assailant. Days later, another body is discovered. How many assassins stalk the village? In a picturesque Cypriot village an expatriate theatrical group gather to discuss their next play; but when the curtain rises it'll be murder. A blackmailer stalks the cast - a group riven with jealousies, rivalry, sexual tension and illicit affairs. Unbeknown to each other they all attempt to find solutions to their problems. Some believe it lies in murder. Can they find the blackmailer? And can they find that all important 'little black book' - the chronicle of their misdeeds. When a body is discovered, Diana, author and amateur actor, turns detective to draw up a suspects list. After the police get involved one of the suspects is found hanged - another murder or the suicide of a guilty person? A visit to a villager's home uncovers an ancient assassin's killing device. Could this be the murder weapon? Is it possible that an assassin lives at the heart of this formerly peaceful and idyllic village? Love, hate, murder and high drama all feature in this classic historical detective story. With a long list of suspects, some dramatic twists and the odd red herring, the reader is left guessing until the final curtain.
The Bamboo Mirror: A short True Ghost Story. The Bamboo Mirror (a Diana Rivers mystery and true paranormal).
This short story is based on a true account of a paranormal experience she encountered when she was at boarding school in Singapore. All characters’ names are fictitious.
This story is 6400 words.

*deleted text...link no good and some indication of problems and IDK enough to ascertain what is what. Apologies for any confusion. Thank you.*

AS you can see, there are many things for all types of reading among my featrued writers. Please choose one that fits your bill and support them! Thanks for reading along!

Leona the not book reviewing featured writer blog host :D Seems to be a little confusion about that...I do read books and tell everyone if I like them, and loudly, but do not do official reviews as that would take my fun away from reading ;) Also, my time is crazy so can't keep up a regular reading schedule.

But all y'all better find time to read something!! Catch you on the backside!

June's Featured Writers

I just finished @Melcom1's first novel Impeding Justice (http://amzn.to/maTq9E) and it's there-are-no-polite-words awesome.

How's that for a recognition? My call out to another June author as one I'd tentatively had planned had a family emergency resulted in this tweet from my CP partner @Amhairi_Simpson
I've read the bio and blurbs, which I'll reveal here shortly, and I have to say, I WANT. Sounds like exactly my cup of tea! Or rather, Pepsi :-P

So without further Ado, I give you this month's featured writers!
Luton born author, Mel Comley, has published her crime thrillers, Impeding Justice and Final Justice, in ebook format

Impeding Justice features feisty new Brit Cop, DI Lorne Simpkins in a  gritty crime novel set in London. After The Unicorn kills her partner,  Lorne knows if she doesn't bring the underworld criminal to justice  soon, she will be his next target. It's a race against time, she has a  24 hour deadline to meet before her kidnapped daughter is used as a  human bomb by the Unicorn. Can Lorne track the criminal down before it's  too late...

Mel Comley left her job as a store manager in Worcester and moved to  France nine years ago despite never having set foot in the country  before. She renovated a French property, decorating 22 rooms in six  months.

Renovation completed, she began to follow her dream of becoming a  writer. After completing a creative writing course she penned a romance  which was a near-miss with Mills & Boon. Then she decided to turn  her hand to crime writing and DI Lorne Simpkins was born.

Impeding Justice is the first in a series of novels featuring Lorne  Simpkins. The book has gained a Gold Star on the writer's site,  Authonomy, with a Harper Collins editor saying, "It keeps the reader  focused on the dramatic interest of the story."

One of Mel's biggest influences in James Patterson and she hopes she has  achieved her aim of making Lorne as memorable as his ‘Alex Cross’.

Impeding Justice has reached number 37 in the Amazon Kindle chart and  Mel hopes it will be available in print in the near future. She has recently finished the third book in the series and this is currently sitting on her agent's desk awaiting permission to release.

In her spare time, Mel loves pottering in her garden which has, for the  past few years, won a local award. She also enjoys painting and walking  her dogs.

 The Books:
 Impeding Justice

Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins comes up against her long-time  nemesis, The  Unicorn. After leading Simpkins and her partner into a  trap, in which Pete is  killed, Lorne comes to the conclusion the  criminal is obtaining insider  information, enabling him to stay one  step ahead of them.

Can Lorne uncover who the mole is before The Unicorn harms her daughter?

Final Justice. This is the sequel to Impeding Justice but is also a standalone thriller/adventure.

After  suffering a breakdown and quitting the force, former Detective  Inspector Lorne Simpkins is contacted by a friend at MI6 to help in a  covert operation.  Against her will, Lorne is convinced to help track  down an old enemy, a sadistic and calculating criminal whose ambition is  to become the world's richest man.

It’s up to Lorne and the agent to prevent him, which results in a chase through France.

My blog is http://melcomley.blogspot.com

My next featured writer has been long time twitter friend and fellow Zombie Survival Crew Member (only her ranks much higher :) who is releasing this month with Running Ink Press. I will be doing an interview with her then :D and can't wait! For now, here's the sneak peak:

Blurb:
PrinceCharming was a putz.
Prince Charming number two was even worse.

After the last prince ran off without any notice, breaking her heart and their engagement along the way, Nemesis Mussolini swore off men and passed the time kicking ass and slinging drinks, something her mafia father would never approve of. But, when her boss Clancy ups his flirtations, it's difficult to remember she's not interested, especially when he gets that delicious evil glint in his eye that has her melting. Just when Nemy starts to think all men might not be bad, she hears whispers about Clancy's less than legal past, and wants to run like hell from the idea that he could be just like her father.
Great … Prince Charming number three may possibly be on FBI's Most Wanted.

While Nemy and Clancy tumble down the romance road, hitting potholes every stepof the way, Nemy discovers how much of her heart already belongs to Clancy, and how much of a Don's daughter she really is. When Clancy's daughter is kidnapped, they must work together to use every talent and connection they have to get her back, which means Nemy must learn to trust again. If they fail, Clancy could lose his daughter forever. Can Nemy surrender in time to ether happily ever after, or is she hell-bent on letting her past keep her from the one man who could be her true Prince Charming?

A little about the author:
N.L. “Jinxie” Gervasio was born on Friday the thirteenth. Her dad wanted to call her Jinx. Her mom said no. It took thirty-four years for her to discover the nickname, and she’s grown quite attached to it. She lives in Tempe, Arizona with Umi (her mother) and Moon (her Alaskan malamute). She enjoys riding her beach cruiser “The Betty” around downtown Tempe, loves a good pub crawl, and has had the pleasure and the heartache of experiencing a love far greater than she could have ever imagined.

And lastly, but please never think it's the least is a new friend I found on twitter, Theresa Meyers. Very fast and efficient, she has me drooling over her skills. Here she is my friends!

Bio:

The progeny of a slightly mad NASA scientist and a tea-drinking bibliophile who turned the family dining room into a library, Theresa Meyers learned early the value of a questioning mind, books and a good china teapot. But it wasn’t until third grade that Theresa overcame her dyslexia and learned to read, going on to make words her life’s work. With a degree in Mass Communications she became first a journalist, then a public relations officer in both the corporate and agency realm landing coverage for her clients in places such as the “Wall Street Journal”, “Good Morning America” and “LIVE! With Regis and Kelly”. She launched her own public relations agency focused on the publishing industry in 2001, and eventually transition from full time publicist to full time multi-published fiction author herself, writing vampire romances for Harlequin Nocturne, Steampunks for Kensington and urban fantasy romances for Entangled Publishing. She’s currently sitting in the turret office of her Seattle-area Victorian home typing away on her next novel. She’s spent nearly a quarter of a century with the boy who took her to the Prom, drinks tea with milk and sugar, is an adamant fan of the television show Supernatural, and has an indecent love of hats. When she’s not writing, reading, sewing, canning or running herd on the small menagerie of farm animals on her mini-farm, she’s often online at www.twitter.com/Theresa_Meyers or at www.theresameyers.com If you’re more the pen and paper type, you can always write to her at P.O. Box 25, Port Orchard, WA 98366.

Built like a god with golden hair and an irresistible allure, Achilles made her feel passion the way no mortal man had before. May's Featured Writers

Undead is Not an Option

I started my life with these people with two conversations that overlapped with a whole lot of tongue biting going around. If you see BMT flying on tweets, then @jterzieff or I will probably be found lurking. For those of you not familiar with the phrase, I had to come up with it due to twitters lack of space. I mean biting my tongue is a whole lot of characters and B.M.T. is twice as many characters and makes it sound like you forgot your bacon on your B.L.T. if you know what I mean.

Anyway, like so many of my conversations involving her I digress :D (Which is a fun and happy past time, but I must move on!) What started as fandom for The Walking Dead Series has turned into something huge which has evolved into a website, live cons and *drum roll please* an anthology from members of The Zombie Survival Crew

A little about the book and its authors:

Zombie love, zombie hate, how to get your killing spree on - we've got it all. When the Zombie Survival Crew organized, we realized the talent pool we had at our fingertips and decided to put together this unique volume of work by the crew members. Short stories, educational pieces, and artwork combine to take you on the zombie-ride of your life and help you prepare to "meat" any challenge.
The following authors and artists have crafted some truly haunting material examining the many terrifying facets of a zombiepocalypse and what survival will ask of all of us:

Tasmin Bowerman, Jim Bronyaur, EC, Jessica Capelle, Natalie Cutrufello, Andrew Jack, Gary James, Maria Kelly, Samantha Lahue, Sonya May, RC Murphy, Chris Philbrook, Wendy Sparrow, Kelene Toups and Austin Wulf.

We are also absolutely thrilled to announce that cast members from AMC’s hit television show The Walking Dead have graciously agreed to increase Undead Is Not An Option’s creep factor with contributions of their own!! Huge thanks to IronE Singleton, Neil Brown Jr., Anthony Guajardo, and everyone else for their participation.

My next author is one whose blogged I've lurked over for some time. I was bouncing around my blogs trying to catch up on everything when I saw she had another release. She writes a fabulous mix of genres. Friendly, generous, and ready to help. Listed here is only a sampling of her work:

Marva Dasef

Mixed Bag II: All the great stories from Mixed Bag plus ten more. Science fiction, horror, fantasy, romance, literary, humor: A little something for every taste.
First Duty: Nyra Hutchings, a young woman born into a life of servitude on a repressive factory planet, is desperate for a different life. When she's accepted into the Space Service, run by the organization that enslaves her planet, she discovers the truth behind generations of rebellion. Now, she must decide what to believe, where her first duty lies, and fight for more than her life against impossible odds.
Tales of a Texas Hero: Little Eddie tells some almost true Tall Tales set in West Texas of the 1930s. Guess what's true and what Eddie fudged on. Was it about the bear? Cage McNatt's prize sow? The skunk in the cornpatch? Guaranteed for a chuckle. NEW BONUS STORY: Ma Yote and Her Cubs

Here's a link to these fabulous books and more. Just remember she writes a variety of genres. Your best bet is to probably pick up one of her Mixed Bags and see which of her styles you prefer :D

Bio: Marva Dasef is a writer living in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and a fat white cat. Retired from thirty-five years in the software industry, she has now turned her energies to writing fiction and finds it a much more satisfying occupation. Marva has published more than forty stories in a number of on-line and print magazines, with her stories included in several Best of anthologies. She has eight published books. Last, but certainly not the least, of my May's featured writers is Sharon Gerlach. I've had the honor of being published in the online magazine, Forever Nocturne, she has with @Jinxie_G as both an artist and a writer. The two have opened a new small indie publishing company. The first books out of the gates are FINALLY ready. One is even released after a bit of formatting issues with the cover.
Sharon Gerlach was in training to be a ninja, but a dismaying lack of physical grace and balance—not to mention the inability to keep her big mouth shut—ended her ninja career before it had really begun. Now she writes. She doesn’t write about ninjas because that’s obviously a sore subject. But she writes about other really cool things and figures someone else will cover the ninjas. Life’s really not all about ninjas, anyway. Sharon lives on the dry side of the Pacific Northwest with her husband (who must really be fond of her as he hasn’t left her yet despite her ninja failings); two of her three kids (none of whom possess ninja qualities either); and a Border collie who suffers the presence of seven cats. Yes, you guessed it—ninja cats!

Malakh is her first published work, with two women’s fiction novels to be released in late 2011. Be sure to check Running Ink Press’s website [http://runninginkpress.com] for information on upcoming releases.

HE HUNTS, SILENT AND UNSEEN
The string of mutilated bodies points to a madman, but the police are stymied. Trace evidence yields no DNA, animal or human. Male, female, young, old—the victims fall without a struggle to the killer in the shadows.
HIS NEXT VICTIM HAS BEEN CHOSEN
For a brief time, Suzanne Harper wielded supernatural abilities and super-human athletic prowess, but that was while she had been the lover of an angel. The murders point to her former lover, and the trail of bodies tells a terrifying tale: he’s working his way to her.
PREY BECOMES PREDATOR
Icarus, an angel who hunts those of his kind who have fallen from grace, enlists Suzanne’s help to stop the killer, for only one as close as a lover can anticipate his next move. Now she must reconcile her heart’s longing for her lost love with her sense of justice and honor, and she must do it fast … because the next murder could be hers.

April's Featured Writers

Okay, for what seems to me to be obvious reasons, I chose not to run this on the first but on the second. Will be posting midnight my time tonight.

The first two authors aren't people I personally know but are for a friend of mine who represents The Zombie Press. Although I know him more for his fodder chasing as a zombie on twitter, he's a good guy *waves hi harry! and was kind enough to give me these two authors for this month:

1) "Dead Stay Dead" by Paul Jessup.

Synopsis:
What do you get when you cross Buffy the Vampire Slayer with equal parts Shaun of the Dead? Well… we’re not sure, but Paul Jessup’s Dead Stay Dead does an admirable job of trying!

Natasha is a ghost whisperer. Her roommate is a gypsy able to explode heads Scanners style with her mind. And campus has been overrun by zombies. What’s a girl to do?

In Jessup’s fast-paced, gore-packed novella you’ll follow Natasha as she attempts to save her school (and humanity, she supposes) from an impending apocalypse. Funny, bizarre, and even a bit sad, fans of hardcore zombie fiction will find plenty to enjoy in Dead Stay Dead.

A little about Paul:

Paul Jessup is a critically acclaimed writer of fantastical fiction. He’s been published in many magazines, both offline and on, with two books published in 2009 (short novel, Open Your Eyes and the short story collection Glass Coffin Girls) and a third in 2010 (the illustrated book, Werewolves). You can visit Paul’s web home at http://www.pauljessup.com.

Links to eforms and trade paperback:

http://thezombiefeed.biz/tzf-store/dead-stay-dead/

2) "Asylum" by Mark Allan Gunnells

Synopsis:

Curtis, a young college student is dragged to his first gay club by his best friend Jimmy for a night of dancing, drinking and sex…at least until the dead start to rise and attack the club. Trapped inside the Asylum are a small band of survivors, including a drag queen, a male stripper, a Vietnam vet bartender, a pretentious gay couple, and an unstable DJ. Will this motley crew survive the hungry undead rattling the sealed-off doors? Will they survive each other? Will they survive their own personal demons? Asylum recalls George Romero’s classic Night of the Living Dead–except with more gore and a more current social message.

Author:

Mark Allan Gunnells is thirty-six years old and holds a degree in English and Psychology. He is the author of the chapbook A Laymon Kind of Night and the upcoming Whisonant and Tales from the Midnight Shift, Vol. I, all from Sideshow Press. His short story “Dancing in the Dark” was recently released through Darkside Digital. A small-town boy at heart, he still lives in his hometown of Gaffney, SC, with his partner of nine years.

March's Featured Writers

A day late but hopefully not a dollar short, we have March's Featured authors. A little update on last month's featured authors. Kait Nolan has received an agent offer of representation based on her platform. From an agent who hasn't asked her to take her books off the market--quite the opposite in fact :) I don't think it's because I featured her here, although one never knows, but it is because of the principle of the thing.

Not all the authors I featured last month were self-pubbed. That's not the criteria. The criteria is epubbed, which doesn't exclude print publications. What happened in Kait's situation can be found on her blog, but basically the agent loved how hard she's working to build her own platform. :) Congratulations Kait!!!

Today's post is brought to you by the letters, G, and K.

For this month, my first up is LK Gardner-Griffie. I "met" her on twitter through the zombie awesomeness I'm involved in. Let me tell you something, this lady is a whiz and a half. We laughingly-scarily call her The Oracle. Yeah. It's almost not a joke :) She's helpful, and kind. She unfailiningly supports all writers that she sees needs a boost. And volunteers lots of her time to The Zombie Survival Crew, which will be a post for another day :) Her provided bio is after her book links.

Her books are wonderful. I'm ordering mine on Friday :) They're for Middle Grade, if I'm not mistaken. I asked her once about 2 months ago for my 9 yo old who reads above his level. I believe her answer was 10-12 yo level, but she can correct me in the comments if I'm a dunce. I plan to order both in the next weeks for my son's birthday.

Bio:

Daughter to a rocket scientist and an artist, LK combines the traits of both into a quirky yet pragmatic writer. She began to foster her love of writing after reading Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women and discovering she had a great deal in common with the character Jo. The making up of stories, dramatic feelings, and a quick temper were enough for her to know she and Jo would have been kindred spirits. Her love of writing has grown over the years, along with the list of projects she plans to tackle.

In addition to writing, LK holds down a full-time job with an international transportation company as a process and efficiency expert. Her leisure time is spent with her husband sharing a love of music, singing, and college baseball. She writes into the night with the help of her three long-haired miniature dachshunds.

My next guest is Kimberly Kinrade. We met on twitter where I got to be in on the beginning of her love affair with the man who now lives with her. The story is beautiful. I've cried over some of her blog posts and his responses. She's a lot of fun. She's moved from California to Washington and that news came at a dark period in recent times. I smiled and grinned and danced. She's only a few hours away!!

Okay, I'm doing the dance again lol. I'm so excited she lives close. I'll be visiting her when the passes aren't a zone of trickery and death for my little car. Oh and if the tranny doesn't start working better (I don't think it's lack of fluids here, 3rd seems to have gone out) then I will be borrowing a car, I'm that excited to have her around.

If you want your faith restored in the power and magic of love, get this book and read her blog, and the one they started together.
