Hello! I have a guest author today! She's here promoting her latest work. It is hot hot hot. Everything here is PG 13 or less, but I think you get the idea!

I sank into the bath and sighed at the soothing heat. The bubbles were a nice touch too. The water made my wounds sting, but I welcomed the pain. For some reason, my mind equated that the pain meant all the cuts and abrasions were being cleaned. The large one on my knee ached particularly bad, but I’d survived far worse. That acknowledgement drew my gaze to my thigh and the sloppy crisscrossing of scars there.

My property. Just like the animal you are, Master Bryce growled in my ear.

I jumped, throwing my arms around myself and hugging my body tight. My eyes searched the room as I waited for him to walk into view, knife glinting in his hand. The room remained silent except for the racing thud of my heartbeat.

“He’s not here,” I whispered. “You aren’t with him anymore. He can’t hurt you.”

How dare you be so ungrateful. Master fed you!

“He starved me,” I protested. “Sometimes he wouldn’t let me eat for days.”

Master clothed you!

“I was only allowed to wear lingerie. He didn’t even allow me to wear shoes. That’s not clothing.”

Master sheltered you!

“Caged me,” I snarled at the voice.

You are nothing without Master!

Those words hit where it counted. I recoiled both mentally and physically, though I knew I’d never be able to outrun that voice. It sounded like my own, but different. Same voice, but robotic. Lifeless. A recording to remind me of all my failings and everything I would never be. Maybe it was my broken soul, shattered and stuck on repeat like a skipping CD.

“Yes, I am nothing,” I admitted, staring at the bubbles that floated on the surface of the water. “But if I try really hard, maybe I can fix myself and be something. Someone worthwhile. Maybe…”

The protests in my head died, as if the nefarious voice contemplated what I said. Or maybe it planned its next attack. Either way, it hushed without anyone else having to interfere, and I sent thanks to the Universe for the moment’s peace.

I didn’t want to linger too long in the bath, so I focused on washing up, including my hair. Once upon a time, I’d kept my hair long enough to touch my waist. Now it only brushed the tops of my shoulders. The first time I’d cut it, I’d done it to feel like I held control over at least one aspect of my life. When Master saw it, he told me I looked like an ugly boy. After that, I kept cutting it shorter and shorter. I think, deep down, I hoped if I cut it short enough, he would find me so unattractive he would quit seeking me out for sexual interaction.

Satisfied that I’d washed away the dirt and grime from the past few days, I let the tub drain and stepped out to towel off. Until the bath, I didn’t realize how much my muscles ached. Now that the heat soaked the soreness away, I could move a little more freely. It made drying off much easier, though my palms still smarted and my knees were raw.

I slipped into an oversized shirt that announced Do Not Disturb in metallic silver letters against a pink and black background. The contact of the clean garment against my skin sent a fresh prayer of gratitude from my lips at the luck that landed clothes in my lap. Clothes that covered me. Clothes that didn’t leave me bare to the prying, leering eyes of strangers. I pushed away the thought before it towed me under into my shadows like a riptide and slipped on a pair of clean panties, then opened the door.

Voices met me. One of them male.

A lump formed in my throat as I stood just inside the door of the bathroom, holding my breath as I strained to listen. Was Master out of the hospital already? Had he found out where I was? Did he come for me? The questions and fears raced through my mind a mile a minute.

If he told me to come home with him, I would. But now that I’d been jarred back into seeing the whole picture, could I ever let my world narrow down again?

Lust, Sex and Tattoos Sheri Velarde

Hello hello hello! It's been awhile, but I'm here! :D My wonderful, amazing friend is here again :D You'll probably think she's sort of a favorite...well, you'd be right! She is amazing!! I have long admired her grit and determination, and no more so than now. She's re-releasing  some from publishers that have now left us, and I, for one, is very thankful! So, if you've been missing some of your favorites, be happy, cuz she's bringing them all back :D:D:D:D:D:D

Lust, Sex and Tattoos

Being an author is a scary profession. It is a world fill with uncertainty and challenges that you do not find at a day job. You work alone, no coworkers to help lighten the mood or chat with. Well I do count my dogs as my coworkers and bounce ideas off of them. Shockingly they are not very helpful. You often work hundreds of hours with no guarantee of publication acceptance. Even if you are accepted the number of authors who actually make a living from their writing is very, very small. So why do authors put themselves through hours of what sometimes can seem like torture? Well because they can’t not write. We have stories inside of us that drive us crazy until they make their way to paper. Being a writer is something that you just are. Like someone who loves pizza but is allergic to shellfish. It’s part of you.

Believe it or not, the writing is actually the easy part of being an author. The business side of writing them takes over. Once your baby is written now it is time for the editing to begin. First you go through and edit yourself, you will be amazed at what you find during these self-edits. This gives you a chance to polish the story and try to find as many grammar errors as possible. You will get better each time you edit, so don’t worry if it is a mess the first time around. After however many rounds of self-edits it’s either off for submission or off to an editor (if you are self-publishing). If accepted it’s off to an editor anyways. There you usually have three rounds of edits and then line edits to check for stuff like commas and grammar, then a proofread. In the meantime you either need to be giving input into a cover or making one. (The cover for Lust, Sex and Tattoos is the very first cover that I made myself!) You need to be getting a blurb and excerpt ready, you need to be coming up with a marketing plan.

Once your story is ready for publication, then you start marketing. Guest blogs, takeovers on FB and other sites, composing tweets, getting info on your own blog, getting sites to list your book, trying to get reviews. The list is endless and ever going. People have short attention spans these days, you need to somehow get them to notice your book. In the meantime you will also be writing your next book, so the cycle begins again.

Short Blurb:

Karen is a woman looking to make a new beginning after breaking away from an abusive past. Her first stop is a tattoo shop, to show herself that she is no longer afraid to live her life the way she sees fit and to mark her freedom with a permanent reminder to never go back. When she catches sight of her tattoo artist, Ben, well she suddenly has things other than ink on her mind. Ben is wild, free and uninhibited, everything that she wants to be and more. Soon she is left alone with the man that embodies her dreams and sparks begin to fly. It's safe to say that she gets way more than she bargained for when she originally stepped into his shop, as Ben helps her unleash her wild child and truly begin her life again. One wild night can truly change a woman forever.

Short Excerpt:

With measured steps to try to hide her nerves, Karen followed him through the curtains and down a hall lined with tattooing rooms. She could hear the needles more clearly now and for a moment she thought of running from the shop just to escape that unnerving sound. Taking a deep breath, she continued on, knowing she could, and would do this, to prove something to herself if nothing else. Ben's tattoo room was in the very back and away from the others who were working. She stepped in and he closed the door behind them. She was completely alone with the most alluring man she had ever met. She gulped. This was definitely going to be an interesting night.

Ben motioned for her to take a seat on the tattoo chair as he sat down on a rolling stool. "Hop on up and take your shirt off for me and lay on your side, facing me."

Not So Silent Night

I am proud to present a cover reveal (though if you are on the ball, you may have seen it yesterday :P) for Sheri Velarde's Not So Silent Night.

It's a gorgeous story that she's upgraded from hot and good to sizzling and great! New edits, new cover, and voila! A tale to warm you at Christmas and beyond! She's done all this fighting major health issues and doing Nano! I'm impressed at how good of a job she has done! Be ready! Time to start your Christmas buying is at hand!

Without further ado, I give you her delicious cover done by the ever wonderful cover artist, Victoria Miller, as well as a few words from Sheri herself. Watch her blog (and likely here lol) for buy links!

Not So Silent Night is a very special story to me for numerous reasons. It was one of my most successful releases with Breathless Press and one of my favorite to write. Now it is about to become my first self-published book as I ready it for re-release this holiday season under my real name! It has been re-edited with some new bits added to make the story even better, but still retains the steaminess from before!
The world of self-publishing is a little scary for me, but exciting at the same time! As I have had two small publishers close on me this year, I just feel that this gives me a safety net to my career and allows me more freedom as well. The world of publishing is forever changing, and I am learning to go with the flow in order to keep up! I can’t think of a better way to embark on my new adventure than with Not So Silent Night, which will be out November 25th, and with the beautiful cover from artist Victoria Miller!

The Web Cleanser cover reveal

I have a good friend and author, Franny Armstrong here today!! I'm so excited. She's really just a writing monster! I love it! She's prolific and loves her twists and turns.

Here's her guest post and cover :D Have fun!

Would you make love to a computer?

People today meet partners online, some of them going so far as to find their true loves, but there can also be danger when that happens. Imagine you have an online lover who lives many miles away. Now, he talks you into cheating on your husband. Is it your fault or his when you give in. The internet isn't always a safe bet. Sometimes even putting an ad on a website to sell your spare bicycle can lead to more than you'd hoped.

While writing The Web Cleanser, I thought about the consequences of online relationships, and fell into the vortex of a story where love can be deadly. You're cyber lover might not live as far away as he/she says. Stalkers can find their victims on the web easily, getting more information about you than you know. It's better for you to only put the minimal personal information in your profile. Danger abounds in the world you can't see.

My characters find out the true meaning of deceit when a killer lures them to their deaths. It's up to two tough cops to find him. Ryland Sanders chooses to be the bait, while her partner, Kane Nanuq tries to protect her from herself, and the killer. Imagine yourself in a similar situation, and perhaps caution will help keep you safe.

I'd love to know what you think of the cover and the tale. You can reach me below at any one of my links. Thanks.

Blurb

Ryland Sanders is a feisty, no-nonsense cop who protects her heart with her smart mouth. She has no friends, and every partner she's ever had gave up on her long ago. When paired with a new cop, Ry pulls out all stops to get rid of him, but he's not one to run.

Kane Nanuq is from the Northwest Territories on Baffin Island. He's tracking a serial killer who murdered his wife and children. When he meets Ry, his carefully planned revenge is altered. She wants to become bait, but Kane wants to protect her. She cracks open his carefully guarded heart, even as she loses hers.

The duo work together to capture the killer, but neither of them realize they've lost their hearts to each other until it's too late...

Excerpt

Normally, Ry wouldn't give a care in the world about people talking behind her back, but for some reason the gossip cut her deeply. Glancing at herself in the mirror, she saw a bewildered, angry woman, who had no friends, no family, and no one to talk to. For the first time since her teens, tears pricked her eyes. Shocked, she watched in the mirror as they glistened for a moment. Anger finally took over as it usually did when she became vulnerable. Lifting her chin, and throwing her shoulders back, she swiped at the offending tears, finally able to achieve the control she'd been missing all morning.

Nobody—and she meant nobody—could hurt her! Not ever! She gave her reflection a quick nod, squared her shoulders even more, and opened the door with a bang, making her way back to her office at normal speed. This time though, she took a moment to give the cops in the main room her best 'Go ahead, I dare ya', expression. Not a soul would raise their eyes to meet hers. With a sniff of distain, she opened her office door and entered her haven…at least, it had been a haven until her current resident showed up.

Ignoring Kane, she sat back down, and noticed that her computer ran smoothly. About to snarl at him, she found that he'd set a hot cup of coffee down in front of her. Now how could you get mad at a guy, when he'd given you the only saving grace of the whole morning? Deciding it best to keep her mouth shut, she opened up a few files, doing her best to ignore the aromatic brew. It took all of a minute before she gave in, and grabbed the cup. When it sloshed on her pants, she squeezed her eyes shut, and waited for the pain to go away.

Kane took the cup out of her hand, and used his clean hanky to dab at the large stain on her thigh.

Releasing a loud 'whoop', she nearly came out of her chair at his touch, but for his hand on her shoulder holding her down.

"Sit still," he said in a low murmur, continuing his ministrations.

In a million years, she wouldn't ever admit to him or anyone else, let alone herself, that his touch made her belly flutter with a swarm of butterflies. Keeping her eyes on her computer screen, she did her best to appear unaffected.

For a few seconds, he tapped the keys on her keyboard. "There," he said quietly, then returned to his desk.

Angry that she'd found an interest in him, she snapped, "I'm not going to thank you…for anything."

He smirked, saying clearly, "I don't expect you to."

The Web Cleanser will be available on Three Worlds Press upon its release.

BIO

Author of Romantic Suspense and Paranormal Romance, I love a good tale. A full time author, I have plenty of time to work on my projects. I write, promote, and daydream about my stories all day long, fitting in my chores and family in my 'spare' time. Writing has been a healing experience for me. Having Bipolar II disorder, I go through hoops to remain focused, but I love to write and it takes me away from dealing with illness. I've come a long way into good health because of my stories. After all, my characters can do anything! There's no reason I can't.

The Beach at the Sea Foam Apartments by D.J. Kozlowski

Three Worlds Press has started a fun series of shorts which is planned to be compiled into anthologies as we go :) They all have to do with the Sea and a little light horror, and the one to launch this week is gothic horror! I have the author guest blogging as well as his buy links and a little som'in som'in from his book!

  • Would you want to live in the world you’ve created and why/why not?
My world (in the book) is our world. The only difference is much of the magic we see in movies or phony "documentaries" is real in the world of the book, though much more subtle than in traditional fantasy. I'd love to live in a magical world. My universe--to which the book provides only a glimpse through a window--has magic, monsters, gods and demons, and many typical fantasy elements, but is otherwise our normal, workaday world. What makes it interesting, I hope, is that nothing is overt. The magical underbelly of reality exists largely unnoticed by most people.
  • Did you have a favourite book or author as a child? Have you got one now?
I loved a book series called The Three Investigators. I recall them having business cards and thinking that was so cool--there was some kind of power in that. They--much like Scooby Doo--always found a rational explanation for seemingly supernatural phenomena. That is attractive to me in a way. But then I have always been inspired by Poe and Lovecraft (my daughter is Raven and once son is H.P.). In the past decade, I've noticed a theme of Neil Gaiman running through my life--movies, books, and other forms of media had links to Gaiman. Long before I knew who he was (or recognized the value of following authors rater than stories) I was reading comics he wrote (one, Death: The High Cost of Living, is still a favorite). I figured he was one of these ubiquitous writers--a Stephen King who everyone has experienced somehow--but no. Gaiman appeals to a certain community, and those people gravitate toward his projects not necessarily because of him (generally), but because of their temperaments and the style and quality of his projects. I also enjoy the early writing of Orson Scott Card, and who doesn't love Bradbury, Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, Dick, Blish, etc.
  • What do you find hardest to write?
My mind always wants to explore my universe, so constraining stories to the relevant characters and plot lines is a constant battle. I sometimes satiate myself by dropping in Easter Eggs that only I recognize as such (as my body of work grows, maybe they'll be more recognizable). But when you've got a world in your mind filled with interesting characters, it's hard to keep them from popping up at every opportunity. I remind myself to keep a steady pace--over time I will begin to explore more of the people/beings.
  • Do you have any other books in the works?
I have a few in process, most set in this same world. I enjoy world-building, so expect to see at least some of the characters from Sea Foam again.

Author Bio:

D.J. Kozlowski writes gothic horror, dark fantasy, and magical realism, drawing inspiration from the likes of Poe and Lovecraft. When he’s not writing, D.J. counsels businesses as an attorney. He lives in Connecticut with his wife, 3 kids, and fish, the latter of which is constantly being replaced for the sake of the children. He tries not to take life too seriously.

Blurb:

Minor magic can have unintended consequences.  At the beach across from the Sea Foam Apartments, the fates of five people are tragically altered through Melinda’s well-intentioned meddling.  Now, Melinda has a chance to help these people find their destinies and restore life to the beach, but she’ll need some help.  Fortunately, someone has been watching.

Quotes:

“She recalled the sun rising from behind the sea, darkening then illuminating the lighthouse and brightening the sands whose sparkle mixed with the shimmering waves to cast all the early joggers in a discotheque strobe. This place had magic to it.”

“The rustling of the curtains was enough to rouse Marc from a dead sleep. When he was younger and living in that apartment at the end of Seaside Avenue, the curtains rustled. At first, he thought he’d left the balcony door ajar, allowing a sea breeze into the apartment. Only later did he realize the curtains moved regardless of the door or the breeze.”

KD Rose ~ Brevity of Twit

Hello World!  No really. This isn’t the rote WordPress hello, it’s me, author KD Rose saying “Hi.”  I’ve been absent awhile due to illness and now I’m back. I’m here, maybe not running with the bulls but at least hobbling with the um, well, chronically pretty darn god-awful ill.  But enough about that. I’m all about keeping it positive (except when I’m not). But see- things are looking up! Literally. This is a view from my yard so life can’t be all bad.

Add to that a wonderful husband, family, and even a wonderful publisher and I have a reason to dig out the old keyboard again. Ok, it was actually replace the new wireless keyboard which didn’t work worth squat with the old wired up keyboard that still works just fine, but that’s technical life for a plebian.

I’m posting on this date to mention that despite everything I have a new book coming out on May 21st, 2015- exactly one short week from now. Titled The Brevity of Twit, this humorous book is everything I used to be. Using the Twitter forum as a scroll, The Brevity of Twit yields humor, insight, and poetic vigor in a light read that will both lift your spirits and make you ponder. So take a gander. My publisher decided to publish it despite the absence of the entire being of the author (me). What more can an author ask for? The book will be on Amazon and other neat sites. I’ll post the links once the book is live.

In the meantime I’m going to un-pause and reinvigorate. It’s been awhile since I’ve sipped the creative nectar and I’m sure it will be as sweet, tangy, and ironic as I remember.

Blurb:

Humor in 140 characters or less.

A witty walk through the minefield of tweeting, twitter, and the many uses we have socially for it. From serious poetry to a scandalous take on improper grammar, this fast paced take on the brevity of chatting in 140 characters or less will have you falling in love with tweeting all over again.

Excerpt:

Trending

Trending is when thousands of people across a state, country, countries, or continents, (depending on your settings) all decide to tweet about the same topic. This usually involves hashtags, a topic listed under "Trending," and many, many people looking for their moment in the spotlight. Generally, trends are about something happening on social media, the news, movies, music, or taking place in the world at the moment. New releases, and celebrities often dominate. Celebrity deaths and death hoaxes also make their appearance. For example, as I write, #royalbaby is trending because that news was just announced and 3— not 1, not 2, but 3 trending subjects are about 1Direction. There is also a #HappyBDayCamCam trending about someone named Cameron Dallas who has 3.4 Million Twitter followers, and I don't know who he is because, well, I'm old.

Not that these aren't THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS EVER, but occasionally, just occasionally something will trend that is interesting to writers, or nerds, or writer-nerds like me. Sometimes these are more local trending subjects, but occasionally even God arises and says- "I am TIRED of Chris Brown, and Margaret Atwood is not tweeting today— Let the Higgs-Boson Particle be found!" Then suddenly science nerds and writer nerds and wordplay nerds form a bond. Higgs-Boson trends, writers have a field day, scientists nash their teeth at all the incorrect explanations going around, thunder claps, rivers overflow, and for a brief moment, even science makes twitter news.

Higgs-Boson Tweets:

•Higgs Boson- "The Force is strong with that one."#laymangeekbutIcanthelpit

•Ok Kids: Higgs, Top Quark, Ultra High Energy Ray, TOE. In that order. I'll be waiting for a report at dinner. Higgs Boson

•Wow- articles are now out saying US sees stronger hints of Higgs. Way to grab the spotlight for a dead collider. CERN is EU. Higgs Boson

•True- the US found hints of Higgs Boson too, but wasnt up to more so it was kind of expected from CERN. Atom Smasher suffers collider envy.

•They might have found Higgs Boson. They might have not. Schrodinger is happy.

•Oh my- Higgs is now trending without Boson. Seriously!

•People who can make Higgs Boson jokes return my faith in humanity.

•Higgs Boson? How quaint. Where's the (S)top Quark? What- did I just suck all the air out of CERN? Oh no wait that's another experiment.

•Higgs Boson Why Science Works: There is no religion around supersymmetry.

Remmy Duchene Osaki book tour

Hi!! I have a lovely guest today for my writing day. Well, I've been good at putting up loads of writers...more so lately LOL Enjoy this well done blog!

My name is Remmy Duchene, I write interracial, GAY romance and erotica and I have a confession to make.

I have ahttps://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/bc/62/dd/bc62ddcaffac1ebd7c3e4f169041acbb.jpgn unhealthy obsession with everything samurai, but not just any samurai--I love the masterless samurai, the Ronin. My love of the culture and the warrior stemmed from a research paper I did in university on who is arguable the best samurai to ever live, Miyamoto Musashi.

Most of us know him as the writer of the book of five rings but this man was bad-ass. He wasn't your typical samurai.  What do I mean by that? Well back then a samurai was not only bad-ass but he was kind of the Justin Beiber of the time. They were loyal, wickedly skilled, well groomed and well, everyone wanted to sleep with them. They were hip, cool, in, revered.  Musashi on the other hand was unkempt, unknown for a long while, scraggly, found with whatever weapon he could get his hands on and had no respect for timing when it came to duels.  You see, he fount is first duel was at sixteen years old. And after a few shots from him to his opponent, who might I add was older and very well known as a very well skilled samurai - Musashi picked up his opponent, flung him to the dirt and beat him to death.

Another noteworthy duel came when he was fighting another well known samurai. He showed up to the duel about two hours late, then instead of bringing a sword like a regular samurai, Musashi showed up with apiece of wood that was made from an extra oar on the boat that brought him to the duel. You see, showing up to a duel late was considered highly disrespectful. It  made his opponent crazy that Musashi would DARE show up so late and without a sword.

But you see, that was precisely what Musashi wanted. He wanted to get into this samurai's head--psyche him out, throw him off his guard. Musashi was not only great at fighting, but he was a master when it came to psychological warfare.

Ever since I learned about this one man and a few others, my love of all things samurai was born. My newest release is about a Samurai who died during the Onin war that started in Japan in 1467 and lasted to around 1477. He then inherited the powers of the SHIVERS and now must fight with evil to save the planet and the man he loves. Yes, back in the day there is history that claimed Samurai engaged in homosexuality.  One source I read said it wasn't a question of why a samurai would do this--it would be a question of why not.

Osaki joined forces with the Shivers, a species created when Zeus cheated on Hera yet again. Hera, in her fury cursed any offsprings that comes from that union and when Ciro, Aerios and Koi along with their brothers were born, they came out with the ability to control the weather - you see, their mother is the Goddess of the Storm Winds and Zeus--well he has his lightning bolts.

There are few Shivers that are good, like Koi and Ciro. But most of the others are out of hand, they just want to see the world burn.

Osaki has a lot on his plate and love is the last thing he has time for. Not only does he have to get used to his new powers as a Shiver and all the training it involves, but he also finds himself being drawn to a human—though Kofi makes it clear he’s into women—and Osaki must respect the man’s wishes. All Osaki really has to do is focus on training and being the best tour guide possible for Kofi. But nothing ever goes as planned and soon rogue Shivers are popping out of the woodwork, hell-bent on destroying Osaki for his inheritance. It soon becomes quite clear that they want him dead, and they’re not afraid to use Kofi as leverage—or as collateral damage.

Kofi Olabasu needs a vacation. He’s spent so much time looking out for his brother and working that he’s completely neglected himself. To make matters worse, feelings for a man are driving him crazy. The moment Kofi feels Osaki, he knows something is about to change. Confused about his attraction to Osaki, he agrees to take a vacation and accepts Osaki’s offer of being Kofi’s tour guide in Japan. However, nothing is as it seems. Soon every dark corner is filled with danger and those who wish to do him harm.

EXCERPT

With the faint sounds of laughter floating up from the others below him, he put on his apron and grabbed the brushes. He stared at the blank canvas for a moment before setting up then began with red paint. He worked until the canvas was completely covered. It was as if he couldn’t stop. Kofi sat back and smiled. He was caught up with his work but not enough to miss that familiar feeling he always felt when Osaki was near.

“Are you just going to stand there and stare?” Kofi asked without turning around. “Or are you going to say something?”

“I did not think you knew I was here,” Osaki replied. “I was careful not to make a sound.”

“I didn’t hear you,” Kofi said, placing his brush down then turning on his stool.

Osaki was dressed in a blue samurai kimono.

“I felt you. Is everything okay downstairs?”

“Everything is fine. You left a dinner you planned. I may not be human any longer but that, I do not believe, is something that is done. Am I correct?”

“I think so.”

Osaki chuckled. “For a minute there, I thought you would say something like ‘I smelled you’.”

“Nothing like that. Why aren’t you with the others? It sounds like a real party out there now.”

“I just wanted to check on you.” Osaki walked into the room to peer closely at the fresh painting. “You did not look so well when you left us. I was merely curious.”

Kofi smiled. “Thanks… For checking on me, that is.” He turned to stare at the painting with Osaki and for a moment, neither of them spoke. “Do you have a last name?” Kofi questioned. For some reason Osaki mattered to him.

“A last name?” Osaki asked.

“Yes. A family name. Like I’m Kofi, my last name is Olabasu…”

“Oh, right. Hirosuke.”

“So you’re Osaki Hirosuke.”

“The English way, yes. In my country, my name is Hirosuke Osaki.”

“Well, look at that. I learned something new.”

Osaki laughed. “This is beautiful. What is it?”

“I don’t know. It’s what I’m feeling inside. Do you really think it’s beautiful? I mean, do you really like it?”

Kofi’s cheeks heated when Osaki turned to look at him. He took a breath and undid the apron he wore, but he pulled the wrong string and it knotted around his neck. He frowned. “This is ridiculous. I can’t even untie a stupid string now?”

“You are feeling chaos, Kofi, confusion. I think perhaps you do need that vacation. Here… Let me help you with that.”

Osaki stepped behind Kofi and tugged at the strings. His fingers brushed Kofi’s skin, sending a streak of electricity down his body. Biting his lips, Kofi held back a moan, wondering why this man’s touch caused such a storm inside him. He said nothing, nor did he try moving away. Kofi was curious, silently burning with each inadvertent stroke of his neck by the samurai.

“I don’t know anything about you,” Kofi said, happy that his voice didn’t crack. “Are you a real samurai?'

Thanks for stopping by and check me out! Thanks for having me!

Allison Merrit Her Heart's Surrender Cover Reveal

Hi :D Today I have another writer for Three World's Press, Allison Merrit. She's a newbie to me with another historical romance. I think we're going to single handedly bring back historical romance! And omniscient POV, if I have anything to say about it!! :D She's shared a bit with us, as well, so enjoy!

I'm a romance writer and a history lover, although my tastes have typically leaned toward mid to late 19th century. I owe my love of history and the written word to many teachers. Somehow they managed to bring the past and words to life. But still, I never thought it would lead to a Viking romance. That is something I owe to other people.

Last year, while I perusing books, I stumbled across Mark Lawrence's Prince of Fools. To make it short, it's about a cowardly, spoiled prince convinced he has everyone fooled into thinking he's a war hero who accidentally gets cursed along with another man. That man is a Viking who only wants to get revenge for the death of his wife and child. It sounds kind of sad, but really, it's hilarious and beautifully written. These two guys are bound together on this long journey trying to get the curse off of themselves. The stoic Viking and his band of friends really inspired me toward writing a Nordic hero. That and... Game of Thrones. I'm not even joking. I was able to watch the first three seasons pretty much back to back. I fell in love with the complicated almost soap opera-like plots and the feudal-type system the show has going.

Suddenly I couldn't not write a Viking romance. Because Prince of Fools and Game of Thrones are both fantasy, I considered creating a whole new world for these characters who didn't want to shut up inside my head. But I fell back on my love of history and started devouring everything I could find about Viking life. I admit, Her Heart's Surrender contains a lot of fiction, but I tried to keep it as factual as I could while weaving the type of story I needed to tell. I'm never for a second sorry I swayed from my 19th century.

Raven McAllan The Alpha's Challenge

Hi everyone! I'm doing NaNoWriMo. I promise to start posting regular updates for you all! In the meantime, my lovely and probably bestest friend in Scotland's beautiful land, Raven, has another cover reveal. This one really struck her heart, so I asked to write up a quick blog so I could show you her awesome cover that hit the spot and fits the characters so well. I know a lot of my followers are writers and will understand how meaningful it is when an artist gets it "just right" for our beloved characters. So, without further ado, Raven McAllan!

I never ever lose the thrill of a new cover. I see the email and my heart goes pitter patter, as I wonder what those talented cover artists will come up with.
I really don't have words enough to say how much I admire them, and my covers. In over 60 books I can count on one had those I've had to query, and some of them were down to me, and that weird 'one language separated by an ocean' thing we can all identify with.

However this one by Channing Harris, is spot on. And I'm not the best as describing my characters, I admit.
I opened the email, got goose bumps, shook cried a bit and then did a chair swivel jiggle and squeed everywhere.
The Alpha's Challenge will be out on 3rd December from Siren Bookstrand

Here's the awesome cover! Don't get too distracted because a blurb follows :)

Here's the blurb:

~ When human Ari Mackintosh lets wolf shifter Jacob Wolfe know she fancies him, fur and sparks fly. Especially, as Jacob isn't a mere shifter. He's the Alpha of his pack and a Dom to boot.
Jacob cannot believe his luck when he discovers that the woman he’s been lusting after from afar not only knows about shifters, but is turned on by seeing him shift. It becomes clear that Ari knows far more than she ought to when she recognized him in his wolf form.
It challenges Jacob, as it’s his duty to keep the pack safe. There are rules to follow—rules that he breaks one by one, as he cannot resist Ari’s natural submissiveness.
When push comes to shove and Jacob reveals his secrets, he is fully aware that they might send Ari away screaming. He has to take the chance and trust that she will stay.~

Sounds like another fantastic hot tale from her :D Congratulations!

The Truth by Kelley Grealis

I have a special guest today :) I sometimes help out with tours for friends. However, I've quit doing promo only blogs. I want something unique. Kelley graciously provided me with something a little bit different :D
Here's her add on for my blog:

Thanks for asking me to post something unique for your blog (and thank you for participating in the blog tour). I thought I’d do a little smorgasbord, and I hope you enjoy!

How I juggle writing with my day job

Having a day job and writing books is like having two full time jobs. It’s not “like having,” they are both full time jobs. I have to strike a balance between work, writing and my personal life. I know many offer writing advice that says you should write something every day, but that doesn’t work for me. When I’m in the full swing of writing, I target three work-nights/week with the goal of writing for two hours or until I hit a natural stopping point. I typically don’t write on weekends unless the hubbs (i.e. husband) isn’t around. I try to take advantage of lunch hours and carpooling when I’m rewriting and editing. Somehow it all comes together!

My favorite vacation

The hubbs and I love to travel to the Caribbean. We’re fans of the ‘fly and flop’ types of vacations, aka all inclusives. Some of our favorites have been Aruba, Cabo, St. Lucia and Jamaica. Of those, I’d have to say Jamaica is the favorite. I’d highly recommend either the Couples Negril resort, or the Jewel Dunn’s River resort. Both are excellent, it depends on which side of the island you’d like to see.

Killing characters in my books

This seems to be a popular question: how do you feel about killing your characters? Well, I’d say my answer depends on the book and the character.

When I was writing The Search, a friend of mine jokingly asked if I’d write her into the story. Okay, it was a little more than joking. I obliged. As I was going through the re-writing process, I knew I had to beef up the backstory about what my main character had been doing during the time book 1 ended and 2 began. Keep in mind, I write vampire books. So I promptly wrote my friend and her husband into the story, and then promptly killed them off as victims of my character’s blood-fueled killing spree. I had fun writing the scene, and my friend got a kick out of the fact she was inspiration for a character, even if the character didn’t last long.

In The Truth (book 3 in The Descendant Vampire Series), I knew I needed an inciting incident to kick off the chain of events I had already identified. I killed off one of the secondary characters and didn’t have too hard of a time doing it as his death was needed to propel the story forward.

Now as I look to the 4th book in the series (you heard it here first, there will be a 4th book in The Descendant Vampire Series), I’m toying with killing off one or more of the main characters, and lemme tell ya, it’s not an easy thing to do! However, once I flesh out the story and fully understand what’s going to happen, I’ll knock off whomever I need to if it makes sense for the story!

The Truth, book 3 in The Descendant Vampire Series, is ready for you to sink your fangs into!

You discovered the vampire’s origin in THE DESCENDANT, and what that meant for Allison Carmichael, the first descendant to exhibit signs of vampirism.

You joined Allison in THE SEARCH as she relentlessly hunted for information on the whereabouts of her husband.

Now find out why it all happened in the first place in THE TRUTH. Does everything happen for a reason, or is there a puppet master pulling everyone’s stings?

Kelley Grealis has loved all things vampire since she was a kid. It was that fascination, combined with the need to know how the first vampire was created, that compelled her to write the type of vampire novel she had always wanted to read. Kelley was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and continues to live in the area with her husband and their two fur babies. She likes her cars fast and motorcycles loud and is a craft beer snob. When she’s not writing, she’s working at her day job, cruising in her convertible or enjoying a beer at her favorite local brewery.

Vincent raised his thumb to my mouth and wiped away the blood. He leaned in and gently licked where I had bitten my lip. His venom tingled as it healed my flesh. He pulled away, not breaking eye contact. His icy blue eyes didn’t make my stomach flutter. His warm hand on my cheek didn’t send waves of desire throughout my body. “So are you just using me for my body?” he asked.

~Now this large house stood, half empty, like the dreams Matt and I once had.~

~Though the Council had been apprised of my detox and subsequent sobriety, I doubted those actions would go far as long as Sam and Brian’s murder cases were still alive and well in the press.~
