Hi all!
Yeah, two in a week. It must be serious :D It's been a busy week. My head editor duties have come to the forefront at Three Worlds Press. One of those duties has been to hire new editors! Three new ones, and one I'll train up a bit more, but she's on the list now. However, she also writes, and I'd much rather she writes. lol I had to do a happy dance. There are instincts in editing that are hard to teach. Grammar is easier, and that's what I have Line editors for (need another one of those as well lol). But to recognize a good story, to be willing to mold it into something for readers that is good quality, that's something some people are just better at than others. I'm so excited!
As a writer, I'm hoping to get some things done tonight so it can head it's way to lines. The Midwife's Moon is nearly there. I've added about 1k+ words and it's been through a few rounds of edits already. I've also added a glossary of terms and people of the War of the Weres world. It's exciting! A short to start off the War of the Weres Chronicles will be out soon after. Three Worlds Press is also trying to get our print lines set up. That's right, our longer novels will be going to print! This will include The Midwife's Moon and The Ulfric's Mate.... :D
I'm also gearing up for the workshop I'd planned for this weekend. It's an editing basics class for editors and writers. It's $35US. I'm covering the basics of pacing, setting, character arcs, etc. I have a guest speaker for putting scents in your writing. She has written a lovely book, Scent of Freedom, as well as others in the world not published yet (but I get to read them cuz I am her critique partner! :D) wherein she uses scents in a unique way that I think we can all learn from. Our olfactory sense is one that seems to have the best memory triggers, and I believe we should be incorporating them into our writing more often. My paypal is Leona.bushman@gmail.com. Pay your entry fee and email me at the same address or message me via FB or twitter (@L_bushman) and let me know you've signed up. Class is online on FB, and there will be handouts, other authors I've edited with, on top of the guest speaker. Live time with me is 10a-12p Friday and 4-6p Friday, and same times on Saturday. The group will be open for discussion with each other, guest speaker, me, and other authors even if I'm not there. The guest speaker is speaking on Saturday morning. All times are PST. This group will remain open to all who've paid for the class as reference, as will the files. I had planned on putting finishing touches on tomorrow, but instead....
I'm also trying to get all of the work I'd planned on doing on Thursday done today. Yesterday, a specialist decided that Nate needs surgery. Tomorrow. His hand was caught in a machine last week and the damage is healing nicely, except for the damage to the tendon, apparently. He will be in a cast for four weeks, and then a splint... I will be doing my best at writing, editing, painting, etc during this time. It will be necessary so I don't go stir crazy LOL I foresee a few growly bits from my husband over the course of the next few weeks. I will endeavour to keep my cool. Wish me luck!
Have a great day!
The long road to publishing and the adventures of being a full time mom while on the way :) *and beyond! :)

Without further ado, I give you the Quest for Redemption by Sheri Velarde!
The fate of the realms rests on the hands of an elven
princess yet to prove herself and an orphan just learning his powers.
Zanna is an elven warrior princess, who seems to have it
all, yet really has nothing. Her fate is not in her own hands. Instead, it is
bound to an ancient magic she has no control over. She wants to rule the elves,
yet must prove herself worthy before she is accepted. She also wants to find
her mate, but after two thousand years, didn't hold much hope. Her existence
has become mundane, and she craves something new. A routine assignment suddenly
turns into something bigger that could ruin all of them. Is she strong enough
to save the world and find her own happiness too? Can she change and help change
the fate of the world with her?
Will is an orphan who has always been confused by his
strangeness. He keeps himself apart, separate from those around him. A chance
meeting with a remarkable woman changes everything. He not only learns about
himself, but about a whole other world that he is a part of by birthright.
However the father that abandoned him as an infant stands to ruin his future
and the future of the world unless he can be stopped.
Will and Zanna must face loved ones who work against them
and their past as well as find the strength to fight a bigger enemy and save
the realms from evil. Can love, friendship, family, and acceptance defeat evil
before it brings the realms crashing down? Can Zanna prove herself worthy to
rule the kingdom?

Losing My Mojo and Health
Hi :)
I'm back. I've tried to be back before, but, 2013 saw the start of my writing mojo drain, partly from health and partly from stress. I had an editor tell me, and tear my work apart for 40 pages then tell me to figure the rest out on my own and they weren't going to edit the rest, that unrelated clauses were comma splices. I spent hours and hours searching and never found any sites that said it that were independent from this person. I felt stupid, but I learned about comma splices, fused sentences, and run ons like you wouldn't believe. (For the record, a comma splice is ONLY one thing: Two INDEPENDENT CLAUSES, related or not, that are joined by only a comma. Period. There is no other comma splices. You run into kissing cousins of fused sentences (two complete sentences with no punctuation) or run ons (two sentences with a conjunction word but no comma), but there is only one comma splice.). However, that feeling that maybe I'm stupid stayed with me. The stresses and drama kept going.
Then, on top of that, my health declined. I nearly died June 26, 2013 from my asthma and allergies from living where we were. I started finding a way to leave the house for 4 hours a day, nearly every day, and made it through the summer of 2014 without getting that ill. However, in January of 2015, after leaving that house for good, I'm still fighting chest issues from living there. It makes me slow, tired, can be cranky, etc. I do have a doctor's appointment in February (move caused me to need a new clinic so had to wait.). I can't wait. In the meantime, I'm still waaayy better than I had been before, despite the sore throat and tight chest that sets off my asthma rather easily.
I work on being positive, and for the most part, I manage on my social media and even at home. I am painting more, doing more crafts, and yes, even writing more. Not where I used to be, but, in the midst of the years of illness, I found solace in editing. Maybe I couldn't find the imagination to write like I used to, but at least I was helping others.
Now, I've pulled eleven of my books from the old publisher. I've re-released The Ulfric's Mate, the first in my War of the Weres series, the second will be re-released next month, my only 3some erotic sort of book will be re-released under a new name, Luck of the Draw, also next month. I always hated the title of the old one, but love that it's been changed :D I am in edits for my Epic Fantasy, Cerisa's Quest, to be out in March, and I'm working on new stuff. I am absolutely thrilled with this. The writing is still slow, and I'm still fighting the procrastination temptation that stems from me "not being good enough" that has been instilled in me elsewhere. I can logically tell myself that I was right, that it doesn't matter, but fact is, it did and does. My success with Ulfric's re-release, though not breaking any records, is a big comfort. It has a full newly done scene, and has been re-edited, so no one should be disappointed if they buy the new one. I've added over 1k words and done a re-edit on The Midwife's Moon as well. We've also added a glossary of terms and places and peoples for the series. I'm so excited!! Again, stuff not available in the old versions. Plus, I'll be doing a War of the Weres Chronicles series. First off will be the story formally only available in an anthology, Barely There. It will be number one. I'm still writing number 2, Moriah and Kamiakin's story, but have number three finished, and number four mostly finished. I have book three of the full lengths (55k+) at 30k and cooking. So this series is about to pop!
My art is going well, and people are buying it. I have multiple collectors now, which blows my mind!
Here's a recent finished painting:
And another one (Both are Scotland :D My obsession...):
On the home front, the new schools seem to be really good for my kids. My son earned a citizenship award today! I'm so proud. :D Another son is well liked by the administration at his school, which is a relief. I've lost my grandpa. Though I haven't seen him in years due to money, I'm still distraught about it. He has my happy memories from a child before I was adopted. I had others not so bad, but he was the clearest. The other memories revolved around abuse (one family member, but the rest were from our neighborhood) so this has been a big deal for me.
Last February, I hurt my leg. I messed up my knee and shins. I'm still having pain, but feel it is finally getting better. I'm going to ask for an xray at that doctor's appointment. Last night, my husband sliced his thumb pretty badly. My son's been in a car accident, but he's fine now.
^^ a lot of that may sound bad, er, and is, but we are doing way better than before, and the future is looking good! I hope that with my renewed health that I'll be back to writing blogs like I did before. Thank you to all of you who have stayed with me while I desperately held on with both hands to my writing through sickness and depression. Things are looking up, I'm getting published, I'm selling my art, and I'm very much excited for the future. I hope to give you more blogs and less promotional blogs in the coming year.
Thank you guys for sticking it in!! Big hugs and Happy New Year! :D

Lost Souls Guest Blog by Sheri
Velarde
First and foremost I want to thank
the lovely Leona for letting me stop by to chat with you all! I will try to be
on my best behavior… try…
Today I thought that I would talk a
little about how writing is my sanity in a very otherwise insane world. This
has been a pretty tough year for me personally and there are two reasons that I
have survived it, my fiancé and my writing. Without either I really don’t know
if I would be here to talk to you or not.
In a world where I lost my
grandmother, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, had to leave a job due to
said ms and some harassment, and money woes, well there was not much that was
constant in my life this year. And while I do credit a lot of my being able to
keep it all together to my wonderful fiancé William, I also know that writing
helped me through this year as well.
Even when my body is failing and I
can’t work in the retail or office world, well I can still write. When my
emotions feel like they are going to boil over, writing is a great outlet to
get them out in a safe and secure way. Writing gave me a sense of purpose in a
life where I otherwise felt lost, it was my shining light in the darkness so to
speak.
At the beginning of the year I had
grand writing plans, 12 stories, novellas, works to be out in 2014. Well I fell
short of that goal, I had 6, Lost Souls being the last to come out this year.
But I still published 6 stories and kept writing during a hard time and for
that I am very proud. And next year is already looking bright with one novella
and a novel on the horizon and many more to come. Writing is my constant and I
wouldn’t have it any other way.
Blurb:
Amy is a fallen angel living life on
earth as a rock star, embracing her bad behavior and becoming a heavy metal
goddess. With the excesses of her new career she almost feels happy. Almost.
However something her old friend Aphrodite once promised her is still missing,
love.
Jade is a sweet and sexy woman,
trying to make a place for herself in this lonely world. Lost in Los Angeles
and just looking for a somewhere she belongs. As the holidays approach she only
realizes how alone she truly is in the unforgiving city of Lost Souls.
One night these two meet seemingly
out of the blue and sparks fly. It is as if something is drawing them towards
each other. Now they both are learning what true happiness can feel like, if
only some secrets don’t rip them apart before their love even has a chance to
bloom.

Excerpt:
Suddenly she felt a warming sensation shooting through her
body, something she had never felt before in her long life. She turned to see
what had caused it, or she should say who. A beautiful woman with piercing
green eyes and waist-length auburn hair stood in the doorway, casual jeans and
black T-shirt hugging her body’s generous curves. She was the most alluring
creature Amy had ever seen, and she was staring right at her with a look of
intensity in her eyes, as if she had been searching for Amy all along and had
finally found her. They stared at each other for what seemed like an eternity
before the connection was broken, the pale beauty shaking her head and heading
towards an empty seat on the other end of the bar and returning Amy’s senses to
her.
With the spell suddenly broken, Amy once again could hear
Len finishing up his story as if nothing special had just happened. What the
hell was that? Was the woman at the other end of the bar some sort of demon?
She had to be magical and otherworldly to cause such a reaction. She certainly
had otherworldly looks. Even though her hips and breasts were more ample than
most angels and the like, she had the body of a goddess that begged to be
touched. Amy shook her head. Len had finished, so she ordered them another
round of drinks. As soon as her martini arrived she downed it and immediately
signaled for another. If only alcohol affected her like it did most humans she
would probably be calming down by now and not worrying about the mystery woman.
Instead she still felt strange, like something had come alive inside her for
the first time. She risked a glance at the red-headed siren down the way. The
subtle temptress was sipping a beer, chatting with a bartender on that side of
the bar. Suddenly she laughed and her whole face lit up, causing Amy to at once
be jealous of the bartender and to want to be next to this woman and be the one
making her laugh.
She must have been staring, for Len interrupted her inner
turmoil. “She’s a looker, all right. A woman with curves too, not one of those
too-skinny Hollywood types. They’re a rarity out here nowadays. If I were
younger I might try to fight you for her.” He laughed. “Of course, if she picks
you I would be out of the running anyways; you know, that pesky penis and all.”
It was Amy’s turn to laugh. “You know some women like both
men and women.”
Len winked knowingly at her. “So I have been told. But I’ve
never taken you to be the sharing sort of gal. Now get over there and let one
of us live the fantasy tonight. After all, we are rock stars, go act like one!”
Thank you, Sheri. What a tantalizing piece. :D Go get your copy today! I appreciate you all who are still following my wonky blog. I have loads of news and will share it as the days go by! Sheri has overcome loads of personal adversity and keeps going. I'd love for some comment love for her.

Days 1-11 NaNoWriMo
Yes, I know, I'm behind...blogging and writing! Days 1-11 have been quite eventful! First day, I had two sick boys, and had to go rescue the eldest boy who'd totaled his car. This is how my NaNoWriMo started. Next day, I had the flu. Well, I still managed to start. I've managed a few over thousand days, but mostly, either not getting any words in (one day on purpose because I needed a day off.).
I've been re-editing and line editing The Ulfric's Mate. I've added 600 words straight up from old numbers to new. I deleted a few things here and there, and changed some words for stronger ones. It'll be interesting to see what the readers think of the new bits. :D I'm super excited! I'll do a cover reveal around the 20th as I'm looking to release on Black Friday!
I'm over 10k, about 4 days behind, I believe. I did over 2k two different days or I'd be behind even more! I'm also editing, was hoping to finish the hard one tonight so I could write the rest of the week. Doesn't look like it's going to happen. I started this blog five hours ago.... yeah...
Well, I'm painting, writing, editing, mothering, wifing, marketing, friending, quilting, crafting, crocheting...and forgetting stuff. JUST remembered about a water bill from three weeks ago... yeah. Need to talk to the city. *sighs loudly* Heaven have mercy, I'm overloaded.
I spent five weeks with excruciating headaches. Turns out, I needed bifocals. I'm just getting used to them with fewer "oh my god bifocal throw up" moments than okay moments now. I'm so far behind on house and edits and writing, it's not even funny. And it's now seven hours since I started this blog. I cannot express to you the craziness that is my life. But really, when I say I'm overloaded, it's because I want to live life to the fullest, and my health--and that of my children--is trying to tell me to give up. But I won't. I won't give up any bit of my life of creating, loving, laughing and working in the arts at whatever level I choose to be involved. Which includes leaving me time to love on my children.
I'm gonna keep on keeping on. :D Soon, I'll make official news on here. Oh...well, suppose I should share the other news first: I am no longer affiliated in any way shape or form with Breathless Press and have no wish to be. You will no longer see books from them being promoted here. However, the authors are welcome to bring other books from other publishers. My beef is not with the authors as a group. I love my authors. I have pulled all books from that publisher, and my books will be re-released with other publishers and some self published. I am not giving up writing. So if you noticed a sudden decrease in books, no worries! They'll come out bigger and better than ever, shining brilliantly the way of my new future! *grins*
NaNo shall not defeat me. I shan't let it. I've made it every year and I have writing partners. We hall prevail! We shall overcome! We shall write!

Raven McAllan The Alpha's Challenge
Hi everyone! I'm doing NaNoWriMo. I promise to start posting regular updates for you all! In the meantime, my lovely and probably bestest friend in Scotland's beautiful land, Raven, has another cover reveal. This one really struck her heart, so I asked to write up a quick blog so I could show you her awesome cover that hit the spot and fits the characters so well. I know a lot of my followers are writers and will understand how meaningful it is when an artist gets it "just right" for our beloved characters. So, without further ado, Raven McAllan!
I never ever lose the thrill of a new cover. I see the email and my heart goes pitter patter, as I wonder what those talented cover artists will come up with.
I really don't have words enough to say how much I admire them, and my covers. In over 60 books I can count on one had those I've had to query, and some of them were down to me, and that weird 'one language separated by an ocean' thing we can all identify with.
However this one by Channing Harris, is spot on. And I'm not the best as describing my characters, I admit.
I opened the email, got goose bumps, shook cried a bit and then did a chair swivel jiggle and squeed everywhere.
The Alpha's Challenge will be out on 3rd December from Siren Bookstrand
Here's the awesome cover! Don't get too distracted because a blurb follows :)
Here's the blurb:
~ When human Ari Mackintosh lets wolf shifter Jacob Wolfe know she fancies him, fur and sparks fly. Especially, as Jacob isn't a mere shifter. He's the Alpha of his pack and a Dom to boot.
Jacob cannot believe his luck when he discovers that the woman he’s been lusting after from afar not only knows about shifters, but is turned on by seeing him shift. It becomes clear that Ari knows far more than she ought to when she recognized him in his wolf form.
It challenges Jacob, as it’s his duty to keep the pack safe. There are rules to follow—rules that he breaks one by one, as he cannot resist Ari’s natural submissiveness.
When push comes to shove and Jacob reveals his secrets, he is fully aware that they might send Ari away screaming. He has to take the chance and trust that she will stay.~
Sounds like another fantastic hot tale from her :D Congratulations!

The Truth by Kelley Grealis
I have a special guest today :) I sometimes help out with tours for friends. However, I've quit doing promo only blogs. I want something unique. Kelley graciously provided me with something a little bit different :D
Here's her add on for my blog:
Thanks for asking me to post something unique for your blog (and
thank you for participating in the blog tour). I thought I’d do a little
smorgasbord, and I hope you enjoy!
How I juggle
writing with my day job
Having a day job and writing books is like having two full time
jobs. It’s not “like having,” they are both full time jobs. I have to strike a
balance between work, writing and my personal life. I know many offer writing
advice that says you should write something every day, but that doesn’t work
for me. When I’m in the full swing of writing, I target three work-nights/week
with the goal of writing for two hours or until I hit a natural stopping point.
I typically don’t write on weekends unless the hubbs (i.e. husband) isn’t
around. I try to take advantage of lunch hours and carpooling when I’m rewriting
and editing. Somehow it all comes together!
My favorite
vacation
The hubbs and I love to travel to the Caribbean. We’re fans of
the ‘fly and flop’ types of vacations, aka all inclusives. Some of our
favorites have been Aruba, Cabo, St. Lucia and Jamaica. Of those, I’d have to
say Jamaica is the favorite. I’d highly recommend either the Couples Negril
resort, or the Jewel Dunn’s River resort. Both are excellent, it depends on
which side of the island you’d like to see.
Killing characters
in my books
This
seems to be a popular question: how do you feel about killing your characters?
Well, I’d say my answer depends on the book and the character.
When I
was writing The Search, a friend of mine jokingly asked if I’d write her into
the story. Okay, it was a little more than joking. I obliged. As I was going
through the re-writing process, I knew I had to beef up the backstory about
what my main character had been doing during the time book 1 ended and 2 began.
Keep in mind, I write vampire books. So I promptly wrote my friend and her
husband into the story, and then promptly killed them off as victims of my
character’s blood-fueled killing spree. I had fun writing the scene, and my
friend got a kick out of the fact she was inspiration for a character, even if
the character didn’t last long.
In The
Truth (book 3 in The Descendant Vampire Series), I knew I needed an inciting
incident to kick off the chain of events I had already identified. I killed off
one of the secondary characters and didn’t have too hard of a time doing it as
his death was needed to propel the story forward.
Now as I
look to the 4th book in the series (you heard it here first, there
will be a 4th book in The Descendant Vampire Series), I’m toying
with killing off one or more of the main characters, and lemme tell ya, it’s
not an easy thing to do! However, once I flesh out the story and fully
understand what’s going to happen, I’ll knock off whomever I need to if it
makes sense for the story!
The Truth, book 3 in The Descendant Vampire Series, is ready for you to sink your fangs into!
You discovered the vampire’s origin in THE DESCENDANT, and what that meant for Allison Carmichael, the first descendant to exhibit signs of vampirism.
You joined Allison in THE SEARCH as she relentlessly hunted for information on the whereabouts of her husband.
Now find out why it all happened in the first place in THE TRUTH. Does everything happen for a reason, or is there a puppet master pulling everyone’s stings?
Kelley Grealis has loved all things vampire since she was a kid. It was that fascination, combined with the need to know how the first vampire was created, that compelled her to write the type of vampire novel she had always wanted to read. Kelley was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and continues to live in the area with her husband and their two fur babies. She likes her cars fast and motorcycles loud and is a craft beer snob. When she’s not writing, she’s working at her day job, cruising in her convertible or enjoying a beer at her favorite local brewery.
Book One:
The Descendant
Book Two:
The Search
Fresh out of vampire detox, Allison Carmichael has her cravings for human blood under control…just in time for the rest of her life to take a downward spiral.
After a loved one is murdered, Allison receives a cryptic message from the deceased. A warning to trust no one, not even those closest to her.
In order to identify the murderer, Allison must trust a mysterious stranger and piece together a series of clues while under the suspicious eye of a jealous boyfriend, a vengeful archangel and a jittery Ruling Council. When information is unearthed about the murderer and Allison’s lineage, her world isn’t the only one that’s rocked.
They say that the truth will set you free, but will that be the case for Allison and those she loves?
Goodreads
Vincent raised
his thumb to my mouth and wiped away the blood. He leaned in and gently licked
where I had bitten my lip. His venom tingled as it healed my flesh. He pulled
away, not breaking eye contact. His icy blue eyes didn’t make my stomach
flutter. His warm hand on my cheek didn’t send waves of desire throughout my
body. “So are you just using me for my body?” he asked.
~Now this large
house stood, half empty, like the dreams Matt and I once had.~
~Though the
Council had been apprised of my detox and subsequent sobriety, I doubted those
actions would go far as long as Sam and Brian’s murder cases were still alive
and well in the press.~
